Healthcare.
Public and primary healthcare for under-served populations across the Middle East, building on existing capacity for lasting improvement.
The foundation
of development.
Good public health is vital to the long-term development of any community. Without it, social and economic development is restricted and suffering continues, leading to reliance on international aid. AMAR delivers public and primary healthcare to break this cycle and set the conditions for communities to flourish.
AMAR works in partnership with existing state health services to improve and expand the skills and quality of provision, augmenting where required and raising standards to those set by the World Health Organization. It trains local healthcare professionals and managers and provides the resources and knowledge needed for lasting improvements in care.
As of 2026, more than 11 million medical consultations have been provided by AMAR staff.
Twelve services,
one system.
Primary healthcare centres
Building and rehabilitating centres to provide access, increase services, develop medical skills and improve community understanding of health.
Rural health posts
Weekly access to care in small and rural areas. Each post is staffed by a doctor and three nurses for consultations, vaccinations and referrals.
Mobile health clinics
Clinics on wheels reaching villages and camps far from fixed facilities, doubling as ambulances in emergencies.
Mother & child health
Every health project targets pregnant women, mothers and children with check-ups, vaccinations and health education, with a female doctor for sensitive conversations.
Reproductive health
Access to help, advice and treatment, including a female doctor where possible, family planning advice and private consultations.
Women Health Volunteers
Local women trained as community health workers deliver advice, public health education and basic care to thousands of families every month.
Health professional training
Regular skills development for state-employed medical professionals, officials, healthcare managers, and AMAR's own staff and volunteers.
Patient transfer
Safe emergency transfer for patients moving between facilities, with mobile clinics deployed as ambulances in remote locations.
Medical laboratories
Full laboratories inside new or refurbished facilities for immediate testing and diagnostic services.
Pharmaceutical services
Equipped facilities and trained pharmacists as part of core primary healthcare staff, so patients have sustained access to medicines.
Medical records
High standards of record keeping and data collection at every facility. AMAR health data also informs province-wide disease surveillance and control.
Environmental health
With local and national government: repairing water supply, building sewage treatment, training business owners on safe workplace and waste practices.
