How AMAR works

Three principles.

Alongside the state

AMAR works inside the state's own clinics and schools. Doctors and teachers on AMAR programmes are Ministry staff on stipends, so the service stays when a contract ends.

Through local hands

No expensive Western personnel. Twenty-four people, all local, in London, Iraq and Romania, with a Basra office that has run without interruption since 1991.

Reported from the field

Every project is reported monthly with figures and photographs, and yearly in the annual report. Corporate partners receive the same reports their contracts specify.
